Re: BAD CRANK SENSOR THROW CODE?
The sensor may be bad, if it is not an open circuit it may not throw a code.
Check the senor resistance and verify the wire harness and various connections up to the distributor and harness are not corroded, damaged or loose. Look for damage to the wire harness.
Next step would to be physically exam the sensors. If road debris/junk has attached to the sensor(its a magnet) it will reduce the resolution from the sensor and the PCM will not receive a signal from the sensor.
No crank sensor, no spark and no fuel.

Re: BAD CRANK SENSOR THROW CODE?
ok, I have gas and spark, so my issue is not the crank sensor. I am having hard starts and an attempted stall on the way home last night.
Fuel pump? Ignitor? Relay?

Re: BAD CRANK SENSOR THROW CODE?
on a 2001 will it throw a code if it is sporadic in working properly???????
Pulled main relay per many folks on the net and other forums say can be the issue. Mine looks brand new. had an electrician at my job look at it, he says it look new. No bad solder or a crack in anything.
If this is a crank sensor that comes and goes should I not see CHECK LIGHT???
I think I will try a used dizzy next. My components in mine are HITACHI. I assume I need the same type of dizzy then.
