what you mean after turning the key to start, then letting it reast in the on postion? when did this problem start happening? you could try looking at your timing belt the teath might be striped. give some more info on when the problem started

Does that mean you have spark or you assume you have spark because you replaced the plugs and wires?
Make sure you have spark. Pull one of the plug wire and hold it to a ground or if you have a spark plug, put that in the end of the plug wire. Have someone turn the key to the start position while you watch for a blue spark to jump between the plug wire and ground or in the spark plug if thats what your using.

Re: 95 accord won't start (TheWhiteAccordDude)
Very rare but have seen this twice in the shop.... the ignition switch could be bad... i had this same problem and chased it literally for 2 hours before coming to the conclusion the switch was bad. like i said thought very rare... check for sure there is spark and fuel then i would pull the timing cover and take a peek.

Have you been able to start it again? Here's a test for the ignition switch. Hold onto the key so that the engine begins to start, instead of completely letting go of the key, just turn it back slightly (allowing the starter motor to disconnect). If the engine keeps running, then the ignition switch is bad. Also, if the engine dies when you let go of the key, look at your instrument panel, if all the guages and lights are OFF, then it is a bad ignition switch.

Re: 95 accord won't start (hondaccord)
drove the night before,seems ok.
in the AM turned the key (pos lll), it started, released the key it stalled (pos ll)
I may have to check the timing or distributor (head was replaced last year because of broken timing belt)

yep if the switch is not makeing contact, being corosien, carbon build up, or is bent out of postion then it will not close the circirut to start the car. now do the lights come on? does it beep at you? or is it just completly dead? no light no beeping nothing? if so check your battery, termainals, wires, both at the battery and the ignition system.

so then try try useing a test light to make sure the starter is getting power, if not trace it back to the switch, by the way is the starter siloniod (i know, I cant spell) engaging? Or does the starter just spin without jameing the ring gear into the flywheel? if neither, check the clutch safty switch if manual.
