Default Can't get cams at TDC...

Ok I am installing a head and I place the cams in the cylinder head with them facing as close to TDC as possible but they aren't at TDC. It is a DOHC so it has two gears obviously. Both gears should have an arrow pointing straight up at the top of the gears and they both have a line on the sides of the gears that point inward that should line up, however both arrows are pointing up but inward towards each other slightly and therefor the lines on the inward sides of the gears both point towards each other but down a little bit so they aren't lined up.... This is the only way that the cams sit in the head and I'm not sure why or what I need to do... So any help would be greatly appreciated....

Are these aftermarket cams you are installing? If so the added lift and duration may be making it a little more work for you but that's really not that big of a deal. It should however be possible to rotate each cam slightly so that your two inner ticks line up (without popping over 90º), then get your timing belt back on there and you'll be set. If that doesn't work try doing one cam at a time (first the exhaust) using the t-belt to hold it while you set the intake next. Also don't worry about the ticks pointing up, just make sure the "UP" arrows are pointing upwards, they'll never be perfect. Good Luck

Thoes to red arrows are where the arrows on the cam gears should be and the red line is where those yellow dots should be lined up but everything is off by like a cm or so....

What do you mean by there's no play in the cams? You can't rotate them at all? Sorry, I'm just unclear on your situation now. Again, don't worry about the yellow ticks, as long as they're facing up you're fine. You just need to rotate the EX cam counter clockwise a bit and the IN cam clockwise a hair. They don't line themselves up on their own.
