96 Civic Ex ECU with GS-R Engine.. How to upgrade...??????
I have a 96 Civic EX Coupe with a GS-R engine in it but the ECU was never swapped. It reads:
3782-P2P-A31
So I know its the original ECU. And I know I need the P72 ECU. But I don't know the exact year of the motor. It's either a 95 or 96. Is there a difference in this? I know that 94-95 are OBD1 and 96-00 are OBD2.. Should I just get the obd2 p72 ecu? What else do I need??
Since I have the P2P ECU, which is OBD2, do I still need a wiring harness or any additional items to complete the ECU conversion?
Please help! Advice greatly appreciated!
Thanks

I would recommend getting an OBD2 GSR ECU. You will still be legal since you are running OBD2 still. If you want to get an OBD1 GSR ECU you can, but you will need the adapter harness that plugs into the ecu.

Since you got a 96 civic and you are most likely using the stock EX engine loom you will need to get a 96-98 P72 ECU, just make sure you don't get a 99+ GSR ECU cuz it won't plug in if you are running the 96 EX engine loom. If you can i would just run a chipped P28 (92-95 SOHC VTEC) with a harness convertor.
