Default Fairfield referee question

I have a 1991 civic DX with a stock D16a6 with a dpfi to mpfi swap all stock. What does the referee look at? do they run the block number under the engine code? Has anybody been to this particular place?

thank you

Default Re: Fairfield referee question

The referee is going to ask you what car and model year the engine came out of. The emission standards will be set for that vehicle you are claiming to replicate in a different vehicle. Swap must be same model year of your car or newer. Your car will be considered a grey market car once your start the ref process. The ref will ask your what cat are you running(you will either need to put the correct cat for the engine your claiming to have swapped in or lie and hopefully get away with it). Make sure your have all the correct emission equipment(Correct ECU as well) installed & working correctly according to the standards of the make and model you are claiming for the swap. If you make it past these points, then it's time for sniffer test. Good luck with the sniffer.

They only look at the engine block code to match it with the swap you're claiming. I work for acura and there is now way to run engine block serial # through their database. You can only search a vin # through honda and acura and they will tell you what engine block serial # is linked to the specific vin #. I doubt they will even ask you where you got it from or for any receipts.
