new flywheel and clutch kit. now cant shift into gear
hey H-T members i got a bit of a problem after installing my new competition flywheel and competition clutch stage 4..
after doing everything myself for the first time, i got a problem with shifting into any gear while the car is idling.. while the car is off, i can get into a gear but NOT when the car is on..
the i torqued the flywheel to oem spec (haynes manual 76ft lbs) and the pressure plate is 19ft lbs but i dont have a torque wrench that can go lower than my 1/2in Tq wrench, so i tightened them by socket..
also when the car is in gear and the engine is off, i cant roll it.. which is normal.. BUT wen i press the clutch and still in gear, it stays locked in and wont release
i followed every step but not sure what i did wrong or could be the problem..
your help is much appreciated and thanks again

yes i have and now the pedal only has 1/2inch of free play and it still hasnt solved my issue..
the clutch fluid didnt leak, so there is no need to bleed it out for air

Re: new flywheel and clutch kit. now cant shift into gear
It could be over engaging the clutch. Try this:
1) start the car
2) push the clutch to the floor
3) try and put it in gear
4) then lift your foot just a little and try again
If it goes in with your foot alittle off the floor then it adjusted too far. This can damage the clutch and fork, so it might be too late.

have you tried having someone else engaging the clutch and you looking to see if the fork is moving?, just to make sure the slave cylinder is actually working

I had the exact problem when I put another swap in my car. Had no choice but to pull the tranny back out and re-inspect everything, pilot bearing seemed to spin a little too freely so we replaced it and the problem went away.Did you replace your pilot bearing?

make sure EVERYTHING is in working order before blaming the clutch. check the master cylinder and make sure it's not broken or leaking. bleed the system and make sure there's no air in it.
i had a similar problem with my rsx. went through the trouble of replacing the clutch and flywheel, which is a hell of a lot harder than a b series clutch job, and still had the problem. turns out the master cylinder was broken and slowly leaking. once that was replaced the problem went away.

Well if your member ID is the vehicle youre talking about its probably an EH2 and they are older cars, either the clutch master or slave cylinder is leaking internally due to the added pressure needed to press a stage 4 clutch. You cant expect an OEM seal that is supposed to hold x amount of PSI to hold 2x PSI after almost 20 years.
