Idling problem with ek B20Z swap, help!!
I just had the swap done. Ran like a tiger, but idling is at 800rpm. Is that normal? When I hit 80mph, it's reving 4k per min, shouldn't it be cruising at about 3000rpm?
I'm running 0BD2, using a GSR tranny, and when i drive, I feel like it has 6 gears, but without 1st.. when i'm at 20mph..i can shift to 3rd, and it's fine..when i'm at 30mph, i can go to 4th gear with ease..and so on. basically, i can cruise at 40mph on 5th gear spinning 2000rpm. is that normal for B20 swaps?
Thanks

Yes, it is supposed to do that.
Whenever you are in 5th gear with a GSR tranny, your RPM will always equal your speed mulitiplied by 50.

It's only normal for B20 swaps that use a GSR tranny.

haha..mike, i bought the ecu from you, got the swap in...i guess we can't really cruise at 100mph without stopping at the gas stations frequently....
it's been less than a week and i want to go obd1 already...what to do...where to go...

hey kinvid,
i'm happy to hear the swap your swap is finished. as for the 100mph driving...it is definately rough on the gas mileage. i do like how the b20z motor seems to "wake up" around 4k RPM which puts you right at the normal speed for highway driving. it seems almost too easy to pass or do whatever with ease on the highways.
as for the power steering, i opted not to keep mine when doing the swap. if you are curious about the belt size though you can just take some string and measure where the belt would be to avoid trying a few different belts on there.
i gotta go to work but i'll talk to you more later.
