I tested for fuel pressure. It has it. I tested for spark in one cylinder. It has spark.

I am at a loss. The engine just turns over for ever. Supposedly it had a compression test so I think it is fine. It is a 2000 engine. The only other thing could be timing right? Could the timing being off prevent it from starting?

Synopsis: 2000 b16a2 in 97 dx hatchback. All wires/vacuum hoses connected. Engine will turn over, but will not start. Has fuel pressure and spark. HELP!!

whats your fuel pressure at

and check for spark in ALL cyinders
also check the dist. timing and make sure your plugs are good.

mine takes 20 cranks or so to turn over when first building fuel pressure

I have no idea. I just know it is spewing fuel from the banjo bolt.
Would one bad cylinder prevent the car from starting?

that's your problem.

the 2000 Si's are OBD2a and you are just OBD2.

When I did this swap I put a b16a2 from a 2000 Si and tried to use that p2t ecu in my 96 dx and couldn't get the car to turn over.

I have to go out and get a P30 ecu from the del sol vtec in order for it work.

the onlt good thing about that, was that I couldn't find and obd2 p30, I could only find and OBD1 P30 and my boy gave me a skunk2 jumper harness.

I'm sorry to tell you this, but this is what you'll need to do.

Or you can just repin your harness for the ecu.

I also think that hybrid garage sells obd2-obd2a jumper harness' if you still want to run the p2t ecu

Yeah, I already did some rewiring. All the wires in my car from the dash forward are from a 2000 si. I don't think that is the problem. Thanks though.

Edit: I tried to find a del sol vtec ecu for many months. I was unsuccessful, and chose to update the look of my interior. In case you were wondering.

plus, what does the dash have to do with anything?

I'm teliing you this one thing....you CANNOT run a P2T ecu without MAJOR rewiring/repining, unless you use a jumper harness.

I have done "MAJOR" rewiring. The reason you can't use the 2000 ecu in a 97 car is the way the dash harness is attached to the ecu in 2000 models, but not in 97 models. I replaced the dash harness, used the ecu and wiring harness that came with the 2000 si engine, and tried to start it. As far as the ecu is concered it is in a 2000 chassis.

OK. I don't have signal to the injectors. That or the ecu is not grounding them. I am going to see if I can fix it tomorrow when I have some light again. Thanks for the help guys.

Timing jump a tooth? Make sure you both your cam gears point stright up. Also check to make sure you plug wires are in correct order. I had both of these problems happen to me

I found one 2 wire plug on the engine harness that does not seem to have a home. It is on a really long wire so I am going to have to jack the car back up to see if I missed something on the bottom of the engine. I don't think it is the timing since it tried to start with the carb cleaner. I checked the plug wires.

its a ground or spark order...did you by any chance adjust the valves??
