Default H23A1 Crank Position Sensor

I just replaced the motor on my 1993 Prelude. THe motor is an H23A1 which is from one of those engine places that bring them in from Japan. Aparently the motor is exactly the same with the exception that the JDM motor does not have the crank position sensor. So now Everything is installed and car wont start because of this. Are there any tricks to make this work. I know that for other Hondas their is a way to trick the computer by "jumping" 2 wires together so that it thinks the crank sensor is there. Is there a way to do this with mine. If so, can someone please post pins and PICTURES of how to do this. Thanks!!

your crank position sensor is in the distributor, on obd2 its on oil pump behind crank pulley.
you'll have to find diagrams of the distributor wiring

http://manuals.preludenation.com/manuals/4th_gen/

try here, should be same ? page1171

I would bet that the oil pulley is hard to get to. I have never done it, but my guess would be to grab the distributor from your old engine and put one in.

However - if the engine is complete, there is probably a wire hanging loose near the oil pump. You should be able to hook that where the missing distrib wires are.The place you bought the engine from should have an answer.

I went ahead and installed the oil pump from the old motor. And now it has the crank sensor installed. Yet the car still does not start and it still shows a crank sensor CEL code on it. I dont know what the hell is wrong with it. Can anyone help.

not to burst your bubble but if you bought a h23a1 its not jdm , jdm motors never had a number at the end it would be h23a or h22a thats it

To answer your questions...it is a H23A which is JDM. The prelude is a 96 which makes the ECU a P14 OBD2A. I have tried all the above tricks and it does not work!

I am having a similar problem with my car. I have an 01 prelude non SH and recently did a swap from the original h22a1 to a 96 jdm h22a. I am currently using the h22a1 wiring harness,ECU and intake manifold. Everything has gone fine up to this point, except the new h22 is missing a crank angle sensor.. I have tried wiring it up by what I have been told and the car will idle for about three seconds and die. The car is drivable if i keep the idle up high enough but will die whenever i come to a stop. The car is not throwing any codes and I am stuck as what to do. Does anybody have access to jdm wiring manual or schematic or now where i can find it. Have I done something wrong? Can anybody please help me figure out what is wrong with my car?

Your problem is different. The car will not start at all if there is a problem with the ckp sensor.

Can you give me any ideas as to what the problem might be?
