Diagnosing Code 8 (Top Dead Sensor)
I have been getting a code 8 every once in a while lately and today it happened again. I connected my hondalogger software and got a code #8. I referred to my helms manual and it states to measure resistance/continuity of the CKP, TDC and CYP sensors which are all inside my JDM OBD1 H22 distributor. Did all tests and all turns out to be in perfect working order. As per helms, if everything turns out to be within specs, then it should be a faulty ecu. Well, my last alternative is to replace the ecu with another, but has anyone had this situation and found out it wasn't the ecu?
Any other things i should check? I also made sure that the distributor's two connectors were tight and had no loose connections or wires.
Any input will be appreciated.

Re: Diagnosing Code 8 (se93)
i'm throwing the same code with my b17 swap in my 1990 EF. It happens at the same time as a VTEC Pressure Sensor code and they're both pissing me off really bad. i haven't had a chance to test the resistance on the leads for TDC on the distributor yet, but I'm predicting that it will test fine just like yours did.
can anyone help?

I had that same code on my H23 after a few days of trying to figure it out it started throwing other codes. Replaced the distributor and all was well.

I had the same problem on my last motor install in my OBDII, but of course my TDC sensor is in the bottom of the motor instead of the distributor. After tearing the motor back down to replace the sensor, it turned out to be a bad connection at the main wiring harness connectors next to the passenger side strut tower.

Re: Diagnosing Code 8 (Nocturnal)
i figured my problem out. i tested resistance at terminals C & G on the distributor plug (per the service manual) and got a resistance of 380 ohms which is within spec for sure. So I looked at my obd0 --> obd1 jumper harness and one of the TDC wires was disconnected on the OBD0 side. Soldered that beeotch back up and no more code.
now my car won't start though. it just makes a whizzing sound when i try and turn it over. i need to see if my distributor is even providing spark or not.
