Cliff notes at the bottom.

Yesterday I go to fix my oil leak from the oil pan gasket that I just installed 150miles ago. The gasket squeezed out the sides, so I figured i could take the oil pan off and move the gasket over and tighten it back down. Well, once I had the oil pan off I find that I squeezed the gasket to much a riped the gasket. So I get a new gasket last night.

Today:
I clean the oil pan and the bottom of the block and wipe it down with carb cleaner to make sure the gasket doesn't slip out. So I have the gasket and oil pan back on the block and I'm tightening the nuts down. I get the torque wrench to make sure that I'm tightening them evenly and so I can tighten the nuts in stages. I make sure the us the correct sequence. Well I hand tighten all the nuts and use a socket to tighten them up a little more. Then I put the torque wrench on with it set a 2ft.lbs. and when I was done tightening all the bolts to 2 ft. lbs the gasket was starting to squeeze out again. So how much is the gasket supposed to squeeze out once it is torqued to 7ft. lbs or how can I stop the gasket from squeezing out?

Cliffs:I'm tightening the oil pan nuts and at 2ft. lbs. the gasket is squeezing out. How much is the gasket supposed to squeeze out or how can I stop the gasket form squeezing out?

All of the gaskets that I've installed have squeezed out and I haven't had any problems. I thought it was weird too the first time it happened but it never leaked on me so I was happy.

a little should squeeze out, i've replaced tons of b series oil pan gaskets, they always do, i say if its not leaking.... ***-it

How much should it sqeeze out. My last one squeezed out like a 1/4'' in spot.

Did you ever have leaks with your gasket that was squeezing out 1/4"? I just did an oil pan gasket on a D16Y7 civic that squeezed out about 1/8" all the way around. It's even at least, so I'm not too worried about it, but wanted to hear how yours turned out.
