car keeps over heating
i dont think its my therostat??? but the dam resavor(sp) tank keeps over flowing. should i take out my thermostat and run cold?? its summer so my sleves would not break i do think. let me know what you think.

How much are thermostats? If they're cheap I'd just replace it and see if that works. Maybe your radiator is clogged?

also check your water pump and if smoke comes out the tailpipe when you start the car, it might be your headgasket. I was getting this problem until I changed the headgasket.

It's your radiator cap. Replace it. It's spring loaded to hold _ _ lbs. of pressure on the cooling system, and if everything else is in good condition it should not relief. If it is failing it will let coolant out of the radiator into the coolant tank.

alright....i'll go try that cause my rad. cap is fucked up. but alittle white smoke goes out the muffler the first 3 secs my car is on. i know its not the head gasket because i just replaced it. thank you

If you're burning white smoke then there is coolant leaking into the engine being burned off.
Be sure the headgasket was installed properly, also do a complete flush of the system by draining all of the coolant, making sure the Heater core valve is open and do a complete flush of the system to get rid of any carbon build up inside the motor, around the water pump, and even inside the radiator.
Put new coolant in, along with a new thermostat (which costs about $8), and see how that works.
