Default Will a Del Sol rack and pinion work in a hatchback???

I'm looking into buying this 92 Vx and the kid says he thinks the rack and pinion has a ripped boot, says it could maybe be the axle but he's not sure. Would a SOHC Vtec Del Sol rack and pinion fit the hatch? A friend of mine has one and is willing to sell it. Also how much would something like this cost me to have replaced? And last, is it safe to drive while its broken since buying the car is going to run me dry for a few weeks? Thanks

i doubt it will work, becasue the frame on the sol's is a bit diff, but i dont want to misslead you im not 100% sure, but close though...it be cheaper for you to get a DX/CX eg rack from a wrecking yard because most sol's came with P/S (if not all?) and you want one thats NON-P/S....

i think it will work. if i remember correctly the rack and pinion bolts to the front cross member and i know for a fact that eg civics, integras, and del sols share the same cross member. only difference i've heard is that the integra front cross members are heavier.

The Vx also has a Gsr swap so I don't know if that means it could have p/s or not.

The kid says now when he isn't on the gas it makes a fast clucking type of sound. Maybe it is the axle. And he also found grease leaking from something... Hm I think I may still buy it and hope for the best.

one of your cv boots is definitely torn. clicking is a symptom of a bad cv boot and it's flinging grease everywhere.

I put a del sol S manual rack into my 95 si hatch. Worked fine.
