Was his system retrofitted? Or did you do the kit from like Napa or ****? I mean you can't find R12 anymore, and if you do, the price of it is astronomical.

this is an update, yesterday night we pulled a vacuum on my system to around -30psi (i guess that's how to put it that's what the gauge read) and then recharged the system with 19 oz of 134a and now it blows like brand new cold and the belt no longer slips.

Good deal. You put a new dryer in I hope.
Did the guy at the shop teach you something about how the system works while you were there?

no i still didn't put a new drier in i know i should have. but the whole deal was free and i didn't have a drier and the expert a/c guy was willing to show me how to do it and teach me how the system works so i just said ***** it. but yes i learned A-lot about how a/c systems work. Once you kinda get the basic idea of what's going on it doesn't seem as complicated anymore. but thanx for everybody's help. And next time my compressor blows up i'll replace the drier and expansion valve
