Header for my DD civic
Just looking for opinions here.
I have a 2000 civic Ex with the stock D16y8. This is my daily driver and it never sees any rpm over 3.5k. It has 211k miles and I am just waiting on the day it craps out. When it does I plan to replace the motor and will unfortunately have to replace portions of the exhaust due to age and rust.
My question is on the quality of Ebay headers. I know what the opinions are but I do not push this car. I drive for gas mileage.
I would like to know if anyone has purchased an Ebay header as an exhaust replacement, not a performance upgrade.
Reminder. This is a budget daily driver and I look to replace the motor and parts for the sum of $900.00 when the time comes.
What are your opinions.

Re: Header for my DD civic
i would go to a junk yard and find one off and ex and use that. if you were gonna buy one off ebay id only go with a megan header but thats all. one the for sale section theres a few ex's being parted out and you could get exhaust parts for probly 200 full. id check there

Yeah unless he has an aftermarket cam to accent that i wouldnt recommend that... and its his DD so i dont think he wants to get a cam
he already has an EX... so i think he has an EX header

If there's something wrong with the exhaust, just go to the junkyard and pull what you need. I have seen many cracked aftermarket headers, and had one personally. OEM will last much longer, and cost under $20 from a pick and pull.

Welds on ebay headers are weak ; cracks are common, specially if you dumped ; OEM EX header ftw or you can pick up DC headers new or used on the marketplace or Craigslist but the EX manifold has a "header" style flow and bend than the LX DX manifolds
I replaced my stock y7 header with the EX y8 header, cat gets moved under car and rywire sells extension for o2 sensor, cheap mod with OEM quality and better exhaust flow

Re: Header for my DD civic
OP posted that he needs to replace "parts of his exhaust", and then goes to ask about the quality of ebay headers. Another poster makes the assumption that the "parts of the exhaust" he's replacing is the exhaust manifold. That poster recommends that he simply source another EX manifold from the junkyard, instead of buying an EBAY header.
IN COMES JONESEK!!
"he already has an EX... so i think he has an EX header "
Thanks genius. If you actually spent the time to read the thread, and comprehend, then you'd realize your post was completely pointless and unwarranted.
Maybe you should stick to the marketplace.

Re: Header for my DD civic
Ive owned and installed several of the $50 headers available on eBay and they all worked fine. They have a bad rep, I dont know why though. Its cheap and effective and always had great fit.
Specially for what you want to do OP, they would be perfect for you. You wont see any gain since you already have a high flowing header, but I would recommend it if you just want a replacement.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. It's a DD, unless you're having some sort of mechanical issue with it, i'd leave it alone or find a good condition OEM header to replace it.
While a $50-100 ebay header would be great, I'd be pissed if I ordered it and it didn't fit or had the aforementioned gasket leak.

I am just trying to plan ahead on my budget rebuild/swap. I have no idea when the bottom end will give out. I am surprise I made it through the winter. At least it was a mild one.
Thank you all for your advice. This is the way I remember honda-tech used to be years ago.
