Ex doors with power windows into a cx
I've searched and read several threads; however, I haven't been able to find an answer to my question. Most of the threads are for people who want to have power windows, locks, and mirrors, and they involve swapping the entire wiring harness. I, on the other hand, am only looking to make the power windows work. This is a mostly track car so I don't need power locks or mirrors.
From what I can tell, there are 4-wire plugs that come out of the window motors on each door. The wires are as follows:
Driver
red/blue - saw on another thread this is for the down function
red/yellow - saw on another thread this is for up function
blue - I assume this is supposed to go to a switched power source
black - I assume this goes to ground
Passenger
blue/red
blue/black
blue/white
blue/green
Does anyone know if the functions I have labeled for the driver door are correct? I have no idea what any of the wires on the passenger side go to. I figure there is a way to connect them to the driver door wires, but I have no idea where any of them go. Does anyone know?
I realize the proper way to do this is to utilize the power harness from an EX. However, since I'm only going to use the power windows, I would like to make my own wiring harness. Unless I'm missing something, it seems like I could get rid of the rest of the door wiring harnesses other than the wires that come out of the window motors. I would then get constant power from the battery or a constant power source from the fuse box (I'd put inline fuses on each of these power sources). Switched power would come from the ignition switch. What do you think? I'm just trying to keep this as simple as possible.
Your help is appreciated.
