Default distributor o-ring help please

ok so when i got the car it had 2 leaks. one from the dizzy and the othe from the vtec solenoid. fixed them both. the car is oil stops leaking, then comes back.

so i take the dizzy off and see that the brand new o-ring that i put on not ever 2 weeks ago is all shreded up.

does anyone know about this problem? is it common? did i tighten the dizzy back down to tight or what?

any help is apreciated. thanks.

btw, the part of the ring that was shreded was on the bottom. dont know if that helps but yea.

Maybe the replacement O-ring was the wrong size?

Did you coat the new O-ring with oil prior to installing the distributor?

where did you get the o-ring, was it a factory oring? it may have been made out of a material that brakes down in petroleum (oil.)

I'm guessing that when you put the distributor back on the o-ring rolled and got pinched.

I went through leaking distributor a while back. My o-ring was shot. Replaced it and I was still leaking. Discovered that I also had a leak on my shaft. Put a new (rebuilt) distributor on and have been dry every since..
