1998 Civic Ignition and Door lock Cylinders
Does anyone have experience with replacing Door and Ignition lock cylinders with non standard cylinders which use a different type of key blank?
My 1998 civic EX 5 speed manual (totally stock) was recently stolen.
I got it back 4 weeks later after it was stripped of $1500 in parts, but still worth putting back together. There was no damage to the door locks or ignition key lock. They got in with a key close enough to the correct one to open and start the car.
Aside from replacing the after market alarm they disarmed, I want to change all the key cylinders in the car to a NON Honda key blank since this is the second time in two years the car has been opened this way with no break in damage evidence.
I really like my Civic and do not want to have to change the type of car I drive because it is one of the Nations most stolen year/Brands.

If i were you i would just get the rear door handles from a sedan (no key holes) and put those on. A theif will look at your car like a donkey on a stick

Thanks for the suggestion.
I'm also on my way to the local Pick 'N Pull today to get a set of door and ignition locks as spares to work on.
I'll look for non keyed door handles as well.
