93 del sol m/t - starter won't crank with key
My starter wont work when i turn the key but the radio and all other electronics work im stumped i checked the the starter signal fuse its fine. But i forgot to say the starter is also fine. Its when turning the key to crank and nothing happens no noise nothing. My brother has it rigged to start the starter from the battery so the starter is fine im thinking maybe the ignition switch is bad but all electronics work fine.Only thing I can tell you is one day at work i was driving in reverse in a puddle of water then it stalled i tried to start it again and it just wouldn't start again.i have no idea what it could be. My car its a 1993 honda del sol m/t Thanks in advance guy' and girls

Okay, a few things to check in order:
1:Make sure that the plastic plug/stopper pad is still intact and in the arm of the clutch pedal, if it isn't this will cause the clutch switch to not engage. Replace it.
2:Check that the clutch switch is plugged in properly. You can also unplug it and check for circuit continuity across the contacts when the button on the switch is depressed.
3:Inspect the starter cut relay/clutch relay. It is located high on the driver's side kick panel.
4:Check no. 39 Fuse in the under-hood box.
These steps cover the clutch circuit. The ignition switch portion of that circuit lies in between steps 3 and 4 on the ST pole of the ignition switch.

You are looking at the hole that the stopper for the cruise control module goes into. Higher up, like in the diagram that RonJ provided is the stopper that actuates the clutch switch...it is likely also destroyed.

Unplug switch A and put a jumper wire in the plug, then try to start with the key (restore any rigged wiring to stock first). Switch A is the one that disables the starter unless the clutch pedal is pressed all the way down. Switch B drops out the cruise control when the clutch is pressed. It is present only on models that had factory cruise control.

Please don't tell me i have to take the fuse box panel off to get to it ohh boy I had to use a mirror and a flash light just to see the clutch pedal switch a and its still hard to see it a tight fit maybe my head is to huge.So im just wondering do you have to remove the fuse box panel ? But i wonder when i bought this car the guy had just replace the clutch about 3 years ago wouldn't they also replaced the rubber stopper too if replacing the clutch ?

Sadly no. That rubber stopper is possibly THE most overlooked part in the entire interior. And if it was stock material, it has likely failed. I use rubber versions of that honda stopper...pretty sure Dorman makes them in those help yourself variety packs you see in auto parts stores. Another branding I see around is literally labeled "HELP!". As for reaching the plug itself, yeah, it is always a tight fit. Some can work around the fuse box and somehow manage to reach up in there, some use grabber tools and mirrors, and others will remove the nuts holding the fuse box in place and just push it to the side still hooked up. it helps alot to remove the plastic cover for the lower drivers side dash and the metal knee bolster panel. minor work, and makes a bit of wiggle room to work in.

Thanks misere noire i think ill try unbolting the fuse panel and just pushing it to the side that's sounds pretty easy to do and also removing the lower dash will try thanks again
