P0705/blinking d light despite changing transmission range switch
Anyone else have had this issue? It has been acting up starting this winter, and it pretty much only wants to do this when it is cold and first started. Throws CEL code p0705, then D light blinks and it seems the torque converter never locks up and it is difficult to accelerate since it won't engage a gear it seems. After it warms up and you start it later that day it (mostly) will drive normally but obviously with the CEL.
I changed out the range switch with a new one, checked the harness (looks good). It is a 2004 EX 4 door with 140k on it.

That's a code for a short in the circuit. Check the connections at the trans range switch and the ECM/PCM.
If they're fine:
Turn the ignition to ON(II) and shift to any gear but R. Back-probe for voltage from ECM/PCM connector A23(brown/yellow) to C10(white) and, A24(brown/yellow) to C10(white). Is there battery voltage on both?
Looking at the ECM/PCM while in the dash the connectors are A, B, C, etc. from the bottom.

Re: P0705/blinking d light despite changing transmission range switch
so I followed the service manual procedure through the end (the firsts step of which lazlong kindly provided). "Recheck connection to PCM, or substitute with a good known PCM" is what the manual recommends. Reseated all of the connectors. Also pulled the trans range switch connector again and scrubbed the heck out of it just in case it is not fully sealed. We shall see, after resetting the ECU it cleared and shifted smooth but we shall see in the coming days.
