ignition/key issues
hi guys,
odd problem here. my key wouldnt come out of the ignition unless i unhooked the negative battery cable. it did a few times with wiggling the key and hitting the console and trying a million times.
I figured something was jammed up, it is a 20 year old car after all. i sprayed some pb blaster on the key, inserted the key, repeated this 3 times to get a decent amount of lube in there. key was coming out with all sorts of black crap on it so i wiped it off when i took the key out.
now the key wont turn at all. its a pretty worn key so im thinking maybe since i cleaned it out in there, the crud mightve been helping the worn key work and now that its gone thats not the case.
ive taken the cylinder out of the ignition and it wont turn even in my hand.
any ideas?

Re: ignition/key issues
update, upon further disassembly of the cylinder it seems the tumblers are worn and not retreating fully. hopefully some cleaning and light filing will help. im a mechanic, not a lock smith lol.
