this weekend i went to go somewhere and when i put the key in the ignition and tryed to turn it over it would not go. the wheel was locked but i tried for about 10 min to turn it over many many times and it would not go. finally it gave way and started. now it does it every once and a while if the wheel is locked or not. nebody have ne suggestions on what this could be? thanks

 

are you sure ur key is not messed up?

 

could be the ignition assembly..

 

yeah im sure the key isnt messed up because i tried my spare key which ive never used before

 

had the same thing go wrong with a 76 Scout I built for a buddy of mine, ended being the lock cylinder. Any locksmith should be able to just come out to your car and fix it on the spot, took me all of ten minutes.

 

alright ill get to one. thanks. for now i can live with it cause even when it does lock i can get it to start after some jolting.
