Default HP gains from removing Cat?

Is it usually around 10 hp
But has anyone run a dyno with the cat off?
Is it much louder?

it sounds like sh-t

10 hp? unless you boosting 10lbs with 2.5 inch downpipe and matching cat with a 3inch unmuffler'ed exhaust

i wont do it if you in cali, you'll get your *** FU-KED by cops, it's one of the most expensive ticket you can get for one single mod.

not likely unless your cat is badly clogged.
a high flow cat will do better for you since it will give similar gains and is not illegal.

You could even try that QTEC thingy. I believe that's what it's called. Basically, lets you decide when you want to run an open downpipe.

you'd be lucky to gain 3hp.

The catalyst, unless failing is really not that restrictive. I've heard rumors that some newer cars, the catalyst actually facilitates power (I'll guess by somehow smoothing out the exhaust pulses to make them more flowing?!?!). I'm not so sure about that idea.......but, let's put it this way......you won't gain 10hp by installing a test pipe ...

but seriously, don't remove the cat, get a high flow cat, it's legal, it won't get you into trouble, it's good for the air that I breath....and, it's not much more expensive. Add to that that it is a lot quieter, and ahhh, the benefits of a highflow cat are sounding good - oh and I mean one from like carsound or magnaflow, not a eBay one as those are just resonators to replace the cat. test pipes also TEND to add a VERY noticable weedeater sound (more noticable than usual)....especially to exhausts that lack resonators, or a descent muffler.
