Help!!! Rattling in rear of car..
Ok, I have a 95 4 door accord I just traded for my civic. it was dropped previously to my ownershp and there is a clunk/rattle when going over bumps.
I thought maybe something is not tight. so in being a pretty good suspension guru I took the whole suspension apart and put grease on all the bushings, put in new struts tower caps and bushings, then retorqued EVERYTHING to spec. it is lowered on tokico blues w/ sportline springs.
I took the whole rear interior out thinking that might be the case, but still a rattle.
I was told some of the rear decklids like to come loose from the spot welds but all are intact and have never been touched.
I had someone else drive and it sounded like it was coming from the strut tower but everything it tight.
I really cant figure this out and any help would be greatly appreciated.

just checked the brakes and replaced all the hardware and shoes.. no problem there.. I am thinking it is the spring botoming out. it looks as if the spring is binding just sitting in the driveway..

Is it more of a clunk or a rattle? Or does it clunk and then rattle?
Just a couple thoughts...
I'm not sure but with those springs/struts do the bump stops need to be cut? If so, did you verify they were cut to the proper length? It could be bottoming out on those.
Also, I've heard of people say that there exhaust would hit the lower control arm with aftermarket exhausts and lowered suspensions. Is the exhaust aftermarket performance or has it been replaced lately? Check to make sure the hangers are holding the exhaust in the right place, far enough away from possible contact.

Re: Help!!! Rattling in rear of car.. (TouringAccord)
I did cut the bump stops to fitment.. The person who lowered it did not. I think the exhaust might have a small part to do with it but it should be far enough away not to touch anything..
it is a clunk then rattle...

My little cousin had a 96 before she smashed it up, her noise from the rear was a busted sway bar mount. Made a lot of noise but only on odd bump and turn combinations. Something to check.

do you have a spoiler on the car???
just asking cause spoilers like "touring style" or any in the lines of that, that have the supports twards the middle tend to bend on the corners and make a clunk/raddle sound....
i know that sounds weird, but i have the same people with my 97 lx coupe when i hit bumps and my car is lowered on adjustable coilovers...it could be the bumper itself...i dont know....now im very curious aswell cause im so use to that clunk raddle sound that i want to really know what that can be.

Re: (Tech-Nics)
I do not have a spoiler and I didnt think this car had a sway bar.. I have owned civics most my life but I honestly didnt know what models of Accords had sway bars and which didnt.
I dont see any sway bars but I could be wrong.. I have a 95 lx if that helps any.
I appreciate your thoughts guys. someone has to have the answer out there.. lol

It's ok, I appreciate you input though!... I got a set of coulovers and am going to try those and see if it's the springs. if it is, I will let you know..
The odd thing is I have put many sets of sportlines on accords and never heard of this problem.. unles these springs are COMPLETELY worn out..
THanks guys I will let you know what happens

Re: (jdmcrx1)
Well, I put on the coilover and it fixed all my rattling and clunking problems.. I guess the sportlines had seen better days. They had settled past their specs so they were rubbing the coils together..
Thanks guys for all your help..
