re: Supersilver's DC2-New Build questions: new goal 677whp
what do you think is a cleaner setup?
The LSvtec conversion kit that goes in line with the oil filter, or just tap the block?
Currently I have a tap AN fitting and it leaks a small amount.... just looking at options.

I believe the actual thread pattern ive read that the oil sensor port is threaded with from the factory is a BSPT and so rethreading to NPT is to be done very carefully...this or get a non brass 1/8 BSPT<>NPT pipe T and clean the threads up with a 1/8 BSPT tap

Its a bit more of a pain, but tapping the block is the cleaner / better route IMO. I ran an oil sandwich on my first LS/VTEC and then when I built the bottom end, i swapped over to the -AN block fitting. As long as you're running a good oil sandwich adapter, I dont think it really makes much difference either way.

well, had some time today, took out the block.
On to break it down and investigate why the lack of pressure in cylinder #3
saving money for front mount, downpipe, dumptube, may consider a used one from a shop, or thinking about going sheepey inc.

Not doubting your ability to tap the block but sometimes this part can end up done wrong if you over apply too much torque tapping the threads here and then you'll end up with a cracked oil passage and a driveway full of oil.....admittedly this is what happened to me when I was a noob when I put my first Frankenstein together so I ended up plugging what threading was left here and just used the oil donut adapter which gave me zero issues.....
I believe the actual thread pattern ive read that the oil sensor port is threaded with from the factory is a BSPT and so rethreading to NPT is to be done very carefully...this or get a non brass 1/8 BSPT<>NPT pipe T and clean the threads up with a 1/8 BSPT tap

id also avoid brass going into the block i have had a brass fitting crack on me before. just a simple stainless fitting will do.
i also broke off that oem oil pressure sensor fitting wayy back like 10 years ago. turns out when they say tq to 12 ftlbs they mean 12 ftlbs not tight as you can with a wrench.
advantage of the sandwich plate is the extra ports. i have my oil temp and oil pressue gauges ran from there too with just the factory oil pressure sending unit in the oem location

you are right, it is bspt which iirc is not tapered.

I will look for a sandwich plate because I do want to have an oil pressure guage, just was thinking about where to install one.

BSPT is still tapered like NPT. The only difference is the thread profile. NPT has sharp edged thread whereas BSPT has rounded threads. Other than that they are identical.

I am still looking for those freeze plugs for the oil catch can return on the back of the block. You know where the black box plugs in? (obd2 i believe)
I am having a hard time finding those...

UPDATE***
had some time off work/school. got down to the body and decided.... going to paint.... ordering 4040 proportion valve for ABS delete and 2 lines next weekend.
Trying to use the ABS master and booster and just flare one of the lines to fit... wish me luck
considering a rywire harness for tuck.

Burnt Orange is great in the right tone. Looks like a multi stage paint correct? Looks like a great decision to paint as you had some serious body damage. No rust it seems which is great
