Stock distributor and ngk wires are fine. You made need to add an MSD 6A or something along those lines and you'll be fine for 500+. What plugs are you running, what are they gapped to and how much boost are you running?

I gapped the plugs from 24 to 16 and it fixed my problem. I was just throwing out an idea why the car would be having a hard time at high rpm (if he was running high boost). A long shot, but just a thought

16 is way to small of a gap. You want the biggest gap you can run while not blowing the flame out. I wouldnt go any lower then 24 on anything unless your just running a stupid big turbo with tons of boost. 24 should have been plenty you run up to 30 pounds of boost. 16 is just plain stupid, cause that right there can cause a piston to melt. Sounds like your tuner needs a few lessons in the fine are of tunning. Also make sure your running NGK and not anything else

this happened to me in the past..2 times..2 different issues.

1st car, breaking up at 7500, car was a stock 94 gsr dizzy, with a external coil, we trashed that setup and put a NEW dist. King dist. on there..no more issues.

2nd car, 10:1 pistons on 15psi, blowing spark out..ran NGK v powers for a ITR ('7s')

gapped to 26 thou from the 43 they came in, fixed that car.

I'm not sure, I'm running 28psi on E85... The plugs were standard ngks (I believe 24) and they were being blown out. How can the small gap melt a piston? Not to thread jack but anyone else care to comment how small you can gap your plugs?

As far as the tuner, he built the first hondas in colorado to run 12's 11's 10's and 9's. Remember this car? He built and drives it... I think he knows what he's doing
