00 LS blows alternator/vss fuse when it shifts
fuse #15 under the dash pops when my automatic transmission shifts from first to second gear. will come out of park and reverse is fine, but once i put it in D4 and head down the road, the fuse blows the first time my car tries to up shift, and after it blows the car doesn't shift. i think it's fourth all the time.
i have a swapped out P75 ECU and a new battery. i have visually inspected my three main ground wires; the negative battery terminal, the valve cover to chassis and transmission to chassis. these grounds are not broken. today i will disconnect and wire brush/steel wool them to make sure corrosion or rust is not interfering with their connectivity.
i understand that the alternator, vss, secondary oxygen sensor, and iab are on the same circuit. the oxygen sensor isn't melted or anything obvious like that, but the cat it plugs into is still the original and rusty as all hell.
i do not know if the alternator is still OEM, but i am assuming as much. i read that you can test the alternator by disconnecting the positive battery terminal while the car is running, and i plan to do this today. i read someone describe another alternator connection test...

i am going to a friend's house to borrow his multi-meter today. i believe this device will help me check continuity, although i don't know how yet.
question: where the does the secondary O2 sensor wire go? i pulled the rubber grommet out from underneath, and found no connector. it looks like it has to enter the car near the dashboard. does the wire go the whole way to the fuse box under the dash, or is there a connector in between?

you have a short to ground. Check all your ground wires for corrosion/cracks. the alternator could be sending the power right to the chassis ground, instead of the battery ground. thats why it runs when u boost it, and then it dies. Its only running off the juice u give it. Check for continuity front the negative terminal on the battery, to the ground wire on the alternator. No continuity = no charge

the car does not stall when i pull the positive battery terminal while it is running. i also cleaned and reattached the ground wires.

ordered a new oxygen sensor to swap out my secondary. it should be in today.
i found a few part numbers called speed sensors on the delray acura site. which one of these is on the circuit using fuse #15 under the dashboard?
78410-S04-951
78410-S04-952
78410-ST7-003

Re: 00 LS blows alternator/vss fuse when it shifts
i fixed my car, but i don't know how until i get this computer tested at acura next week. i didn't put the new o2 sensor in.
i'm on the road, again! i have the ntk 24172 sensor sealed in box, and maybe a p75 ecu to get rid of if it tests good.
more details next week. go penguins.
