SMC+ problems
Last night i put a SMC+ on my civic, I dont have DSM's yet for this one so i just set the trim to 0% for all RPM levels - cool?
Here is the problem, when we ease into the gas the car works fine. But if i push the gas in any quicker than my grandma would the car jerks real bad. I noticed that the A/F drops to way lean (so i am assuming the jerk is the car starting to turn off then back on) and the green status LED on the SMC turns off?
Anybody had this problem before?

Re: SMC+ problems (intercooledJRSC)
The smc is not the problem, your impatience is. You should have waited for the dsm's and done it all together. Were does zip say that it was made for stock injectors? I am not trying to be an ***, just stating my opinion. Either stop complaining untill you get your 450's and it still dosen't work or stop complaining and disconect the smc untill you get the 450's, either way, stop complaining! To do things right, takes patience, and you are only going to need more, once you get the 450's because then you need to tune it!

this is an incorrect statement. as long as the SMC is set to 0% correction, it will work fine with stock injectors. myself as well as many others have done this to get a "jump start" on the project and i've never had any problems with it hooked up this way. i would recommend double and tripple checking all of your wiring and make sure its soldered.

Thank you, I know Zip has even said on this board that it would be fine to use with the stock injectors.
I checked all of my solder joints, and there solid and reprogramed it to 0% again (in case i missed a RPM level) and it still does it.
Question - is the status light susposed to flash really fast when the ignition is at the ON position before you start the car, and be steady on when the car is running?
I hope Zip sees this thread, mabey he could shead some light

Re: SMC+ problems (FMXer)
Try taking a percent or 2 in the rpm range you start to get the bucking/roughness. I had the same problem with an smc500 on my car. I know it doesn't sound like it makes any sense cause it didnt to me either at the time(why trim stock injectors??)...but it worked, try it

Oh yeah- to answer your question, its a steady green with the key to on (car not running) and blinking in relation to rpm's when car is running. So yours seems backwards. What car is this?

you might want to double-check your RPM wire. the green status LED should be flashing when the car is running. it will flash faster as RPM increases. let us know what pin you hooked the SMC to on your ECU for the RPM signal.

you shouldve studied up a bit more before making this statement..it works fine with stock injectors as long as its set at 0%...and dont say something dumb like i heard this, because i RAN my car like this for a while..ran perfectly fine

Re: SMC+ problems (GOLDBERG)
Okay, i found the problem, and learned a lesson about working with ECU wires.
The problem was that i had tapped the ALTC Alternator Contol Pin 19, instead of pin 20 for the ICM thanks keebler65 and Deltax75 for pointing me towards the RPM signal wire
And the lesson i learned? Never work on big bunches of wire at 1:30am when you are tried and working with a flood light outside you car and a flashlight inside, you will make mistakes Two times I tapped the wrong wire because i was tired
This morning i saw my error right away since i had a night's sleep, corrected it and my SMC works just dandy
Thanks guys
