Are you having break up/stuttering issues at all?
What plug wires are you using?
Also the stock coil could be weak or damaged from heat and vibrations. Check the coil in the dizzy for any signs of heat damage (darkening/discoloration of the potting material) and also check it for cracks that would be causing issues with the coil throwing an arc inside the dizzy
Also check the cap and rotor for any signs of corrosion or wear as they both might need to be replaced, also .033 might be too large for a stock ignition, especially one with old components inside. Try .028 and see if it goes away. If it doesn't gap them down till it does (or doesn't)
It might be time to try an accel oem replacement coil for added spark energy. Maybe even an icm delete with an external coil and a summit ignition box. That setup works great for people making decent power regardless of boost pressure. And it's cheap, like less than 300

Re: LST / LS-T Turbo B18A B18B setups
Got a question for you guys.
Picked up a cheap b20 to replace my previous setup.
Stock it uses the extended tip ZFR spark plugs in a 5 heat range. Im running about 9 lbs of boost, so I know I needed a colder plug.
I picked up a set of the ZFR 6's but they are still giving me some issues.
I know a lot of people like the BKR plugs but I question whether you should get rid of the extended tip design since its what the car uses stock. Also, what effect does the extended have on timing?
Also, like I said, Im running about 9-10lbs(60-1 type turbo), so what plug/gap do most of you use for lower boost setups?
The ZFR 6s came gapped around .044 and I worked them down to .033 and still not getting a quality spark.
On my last setup (LSVTEC) I was running the BKR 7s (I was told to match the plugs to the head) and I think they were too cold because even after dyno tuning and gapping them down to .028 they continued to foul out.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

7's at that gap should b correct. Shouldn't b fouling. Who is tuning it?

Kicked25. Just run bkr7e's and start the gap at .0030 and work your way down as needed. 6's are to hot for boost. Even mild boost there just not gong to work.

Re: LST / LS-T Turbo B18A B18B setups
Hey guys a bit new to actually posting on these forums, typically just search and read certain things up but I have a question I'd like to be answered because I ran into what I think is a good deal.
now I have a b18a1 which I will try to build besides getting the blocked sleeved. Motor has been converted to obd2 to run in my 97 ej8 here in NC. now I want to build and boost with the intention of be able to revert back to obd2 for a couple hours come inspection time. I was planning on keeping stock bore and compression but someone offered me JE pistons and rods that were 81.5mm and 10:5:1 comp. now my question is if I bore it from 81mm to 81.5mm and install the higher comp pistons am I able to run stock injectors, map sensor, and ecu without throwing any codes on the obd2 ls ecu?
also the guy told me in the je pistons he had the floating pins pressed in which he said is a stronger upgrade, now from what I have been told the pins are supposed to be able to slide right in then be held in by the clips right?
thanks in advance!

How much for the valve springs, retainers, and the 404s? I'm debating picking up like an older 4 door ef, slamming it and doing a mild small turbo setup on one of my spare ls motors as a dd.

Re: LST / LS-T Turbo B18A B18B setups
Well tuning went well on Friday. The DYNO wasn't reading all of the power after 5k rpm, but it was definitely a successful day as tuning was completed with no issues. I'm pretty happy as it made about 300hp/290tq at 17psi.

That's decent power but the 2871 is capable of so much more. You could make your current power level on a 2860. Unless you plan on building the motor and making upwards of 450hp

I think jdecks23's choice of turbo with that compression was perfect, for both now and later, although I would have changed injectors to at least 550cc.. Very clean and relaxed installation. Way to go!!

Yea 55s would've given him a little more wiggle room on the tune, his current injectors are no doubt at their limits and I'm sure with more injector he could make a bit more power reliably on a stock bottom end

Re: LST / LS-T Turbo B18A B18B setups
hey guys.. first off, DONT LAUGH lol..
As I'm piecing my old setup together I just thought of something... I think I was last using uberdata when burning my roms back in ...2008?
I have crome pro with the ostrich getup and all that available to me through a friend that has gone onto bigger better things (K series, J series..)
So dumb question, but for the simplicity of our setups (lo cam/lo fuel/lo ign maps) do we really need to run some super software? I tune for plenty of people on flashpro for the new gen K series, and I'm very familiar with the Hondata software.
I dont think I really need hondata for my setup, im only looking to run on pump gas, and if I do decide to get a boost controller I'll probably grab someones used ACV-R.
So my big Q, for running no more than 1.3 bar or so on a SC61, do I need the newest greatest and latest as far as tuning softwares or will Crome be fine?
Thanks!

There isnt anything wrong with crome as long as you know how to tune with it. It has some quirks but its pretty simple to use and will work just fine.
I would personally tune with cromne pro Gold. you wont be able to save the file but it will stay saved on the ostrich and always be on there to tweak the tune if need be.
