It is not complicated at all. In fact, it ws pretty easy. If you have OBDII and use the adapter harness it is pretty much plug and play. Is your ECU already chipped for Hondata? I ordered mine to be chipped by the dealer.

many times if you buy the parts from them they will give you a break on the labor since they are making money off your parts.

if you have done so much like suspension and stuff to your car, that meas u know how to turn a wrench, good enough for turbo install

you do it now for free, MAYBE u will not get it working, then first u have H-T members to help
even we can't help, now u can take ur car for somebody to check it, then find the problem, now you pay 500 bucks
even u paid 500 bucks, but u have gained PRICELESS experience and the fun

if you understand the VERY BASIC concept of turbo, then you will be fine, a helm's would help alot too

it isn't that easy. but i think it's something you should definitely do yourself. and it definitely helps to have friends that know their **** to come check it out. you you don't even know how much you will learn.

usually if you get it professionaly installed, when something goes wrong, you won't have a clue why or how, and you'll just trot on back. but doing it yourself, you'll have a much better understanding of your car, and that rules. but be prepared for your fair share of frusteration & knuckle biters, cause there were a couple of times i was reading to take a giant gulp of coolant

for you

C'mon man u can do it.. if u have like 2-4 weeks you can do it. Just work on your install then if you have a problem, come on to the board and ask questions. Just take it easy and slow... What you will learn will be invaluable to your car knowledge.

Im only 15, but i am pretty confident i can install a turbo. My brother just did one and I was checking it out and now im sure i can do a turbo install. If I can anyone can. Don't waste 900 which could go to a engine rebuild. May the force be with you.

Good luck with your turbo setup.

Man, I will be PMing you guys later. If you could help me, that would be gold.

Thing is, I would like to have my car back up together within a couple of days. Like all people, I work, I have a job, and by that time, probably school too. I mean, a week, okay, but more than that and it's goign to be a pain.

All this valueable expericene that everybdoy is saying sounds great to me.

So far, as far as the piping goes. no prob, I understand how the turbo bolts on and how the intercooler goes and how the piping is installed. Bolting on the HARD MATERIALS like the piping and wastegate looks easy. Pretty much just BOLTING it on. No probs there.

Here's the problem.:
I can't weld, nor do I have tools to do so.
I'm shitty with electrical stuff. I did do my own head unit but, I didn't do my subwoofer and amp.
How the hell do I put on my hondata2b?
Drilling? I dont have a drill, where do I drill it, what am I drilling? Huh?

So far, what I know is the turbo, manifold, piping, intercooler. Okay, I can do that... It's just the other things I am having trouble with.

If I could find some poeple that could confidently put those things on and help me do it. Hey, I'm all for it man.

Turbo is sitting here, it ain't going anywhere, so I've gots lots of time to figure out how the hell to do it.

My engine bay caught on fire. I had to solder the entire wiring harness back together, replace everything that was melted, and repaint the whole engine bay in my garage. Now how much do you think that would have cost me?
YOu know, that wasn't all that inspiring.
Hearing that doesn't make me wanna go JUMP out and install it.

Not the most encouraging words when installing your own stuff. melting....... repainting everything........ caught on fire.....

what's you hondata setup? 440cc injectors + walbro intank? is your ecu already soldered for hondata?

i had my car running on hondata for 4 months before i put in the turbo. i recommend you do the same thing so you don't have to troubleshoot everything at once.

Remeber that dude SGT racing was having a groupbuy on it a couple of months ago? I got it from him. I have 440 RC's, Hondata 2b, ODB1, or something like that. The one from the older civic. You know what I'm talking about

I'm just piling all the information here in my head. I'm looking for local people here that might be able to help me. I might yet just be able to pull it off yet! .. maybe..

On a off topic matter, I borrowed my buddies Trigun DVD. It was pretty cool.. ah yes, Vash the Stampede. I need to pickup the 2nd DVD when I get a chance.

Yes, I installed my Hondata over a month before the turbo install also. It was great because it meant that much less to do at the time of the turbo install. The Hondata and injector install was not bad. The fuel pump install was cake.

Isn't the Hondata 2B (what I have) made for boost applications though? Are they're any consquences of doing that before you actulaly go boost?

About how long did it take to install the Hondata and a ODB1 ECU and Fule Injectors?

I am near him, I am less than an hour away! Did you read my previous post? hehe Installing the Hondata and injectors took me about 5 hours but I took it very slow because it was my first time. I have the Helms manual and it was very helpful!

I got the maxrev kit. It was the one that they were selling here on Hondatech about ... I think it was in January.

Here are all my components.

Garret T3/T4 Turbo .48 exhaust A/R, Compressor A/R .60
Tial Wastegate
maxrev Manifold
maxRev Downpipe
Intercooler (don't know who's)
Universal Mild Steel U-Bends, (which I am getting Jet Hot coated in the FUTURE to prevent rusting)
Hondata 2B, with a ODB1 ECU
RC440's Injectors
Greddy Profec B
Blitz DD BOV
Defi Link Gauges (Fuel Pres, Oil Pres, Boost, EGT)
Kit did NOT, come with a Charger pipe.

THat's everything that I need to install.

Note: I am getting a Oil cooler too when I put it in, I am unsure of which one to get though. I will figure it out eventually.

Note2: I have a Existing AEM cold air intake, I was told that I can use that for the charger pipe with some cutting. Problem, Does anybody know how to weld Aluminum? Cuase the intake is aluminum.

Note3: I want to get a turbo inlet pipe added to my turbo, I don' like the idea of running a screen, and since I stilll have the K&N firlter from my cold air intake, this should work just fine.

That is everything I can think of at this moment.

Hey TurboSedan, I'm planning with some friends of mine and we are researching all the info gathered here, and other places to see if we might do it ourselves. It is a possibility that I am playing with right now. Thing is, I don't know when.

Could be in a couple of weeks, could be in a couple of months. Who knows. Thing is, you think you might be able to help since you have done this?

Also, you said that you installed your hondata first right? how well does a non boosted engine respond to that? Weould you recommend putting on the hondata first? Is it hard? think you might be able to hlep?

let me know.

Sure I can help out. The only problem would be if I have to work. Anyway, my non-boosted Hondata experience was fine. It ran a tad richer, but I expected that because of the base map. Overall everything worked and ran fine though, even with the 440cc on the NA D16.
I do recommend putting the Hondata in first because then you don't have so much to worry about when the turbo goes on. It is not that hard to install. The injectors take more time than the Hondata and ECU install. I could help with that part depending on when you plan to do it. Just keep me posted about when and everything. PM me if you have any questions.

hondata's not that hard to install? how bout the soldering and all that? did you guys just send it in to have it done? What happens when you drive w/ just a hondata 2b and no turbo? will the ecu make its adjustments accordingly?

Yes I had the soldering done by the dealer, so it was not tough to install it.
