coolant in catch can for crankcase water in valve cover catch can
i have a eg with an ls turbo fully built with darton replacement sleeves i have been getting coolant in crankcase catch can and milky water off valve cover catch can. i checked the oil and it was clean but when i just took for ride now i have a little milkshake on bottom of oil cap but oil still seems clean on dip stick i checked plugs yesterday and they looked good, not washed clean by coolant. There are 2 things that i think it could be head gasket or sunk sleeve. how can coolant get in crankcase???? PLease let me know what you guys think. I am going to do a compression test and leak down monday when my buddies shop opens

Coolant can mix with oil either where the headgasket seals(cooling jack and oil galleys) and inside the head itself if there's a crack. I suppose it could also mix if you have an OEM oil cooler that has coolant running through it, but I've never heard of those going bad.

i noticed in the winter time when i would start my car for a few mins just to warm it up that i would have milky residue on my oil cap and on the inside of the valve cover. Dip stick was also clean and this only happened in the cooler season for me. Its from condensation inside the valve cover.

oil floats on water, so of course you wouln't see it. let the car set for an hour and loosen the drain plug. see if water comes out.

kind of the same thing happened to me, water was in my catch can, oil was clean, and a white build up was underneath my oil cap. All in all it ended up being a cracked head.

i pretty much ran into the same situation a couple days ago. my catch can was full and was getting backwash back into the oil and i think that was causing the milkiness on the cap. i took the valve cover off and the valve cover had milky oil caked on the bottom of it. i drained the oil and all the oil was fine except for the bit on the valve cover. i think some condensation played a role as well.
