Default AFC Neo Writeup

Thought you guys might be interested in what the new AFC Neo is all about. It's basically APEXi's new AFC and VAFC together.

We just installed one in a GSR, and will post pics and info later, but for now we have a writeup of this into a 95 GSX.

Hope you enjoy!

can you adjust igintion timing with it yet? or has Apexi not come to the conclusion that this is just as important as adjusting air/fuel?

I dont think it allows for ignition timing, it would hvae been cool of Apex to combine the ITC, AFC, and VAFC into one unit, but imagine the melted piston orchestra that would ensure.

Any device that modifies the MAP signal is messing with the timing.

exactly, im talking about control over the timing, not that it modifies timing by itself. i already know that an afc will advance timing, but having control over it would be nice.

i think apex really kinda designed and meant for AFCs to work on MAF cars, even though they put in a setting for us MAP guys, it works so much better on MAF equiped cars

it defiently does......on dsm's it works great ...even to tune high boost turbo setups.....we got a 20g turbo on a talon with 22 psi no problems tunning it with the afc....lol try that on a honda and BOOM!

Fair enough. But if changing ONLY fuel was what I wanted - did I get it with the VAFC?

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by JDMAppeal &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">exactly, im talking about control over the timing, not that it modifies timing by itself. i already know that an afc will advance timing, but having control over it would be nice.</TD></TR></TABLE>

It doesn't just advance the timing though. And having control over just the fuel would be nice too, ehh? But you don't even get that with the VAFC on our Honda's because the MAP signal messes with both fuel and ignition.

So when you ask...

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by JDMAppeal &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">can you adjust igintion timing with it yet? or has Apexi not come to the conclusion that this is just as important as adjusting air/fuel?</TD></TR></TABLE>

...it seems you haven't come to the conclusion that adjusting fuel independent of ignition was always the desired course of action and that you're never going to get it with a MAP voltage modifying device on a speed-density system.

how do you activate the VAFC feature on it

can you say use the VAFC setting to have an rpm controllled switch (to fire n2o or water injection or whatever) after a specific rpm on a non MAP car ? like a hotwire car?

Does it still monitor knock ?

integra and honda civic writeups will be up soon, we will be detailing VAFC functions then, with complete tuning guides. We havent fully tested the optional outputs, it does look like you can set criteria for outputs depending on certain fuel trim / rpm settings. we'll have more information shortly. Thanks

Can it be used on a non-Vtec car for the AFC only?
