Anyone know whether the VAFC 2 will retard timing when it adds fuel?
I have heard the VAFC 1 did and that the VAFC 2 did not....
Any truth to this?

Why are you using the vafc to add fuel? Shouldn't you be using larger injectors to add fuel, and the vafc to subtract it - aka "the hack"?

In that case, the vafc will indirectly advance timing, not retard it. If you are really and truly adding fuel with the afc, then yes, it would retard timing, and it has nothing to do with the generation. Both manipulate the map signal.
