***V-AFC Hack...now bad idle??? HELP!!***
hey everyone put my 450cc DSM injectors on today with my VAFC and i put the settings to -40% 1000-5000 rpms then -35% from 5000-7000 rpms and now the idle is pretty ruff and drops pretty low and seems like it wants to die?? what could this be...any ideas on different settings and the injectors are ticking kinda loud....anyway to quiet them down??......and should i leave my check valves in??? my FMU??? my inline pump????
when i closed off the check valves the car would start to bogggg at 4000 rpms....it wouldnt let it go higher but only when i was on it!
thanks!

Re: ***V-AFC Hack...now bad idle??? HELP!!*** (legendboy)
i installed it according to the instruction book.....and it seems to be working fine.....the readings and correct, like the throttle %'s and the RPM's..........and when i am idleing my vacuum on my gauge will drop to about 14 in.hg and the cars idle will drop to about 550 and almost die then pop up to 1100 then slowly go down to 750-800 like it normally is then it will be fine for like a minute! what could be causing this??? could it be cause i am still running my inline pump, my check valves, and my FMU??? thanks!!!!

Easy fix:
richen the trim up a bit at the 1k range. I have mine at -25%, but just go up 5% at a time until it smooths out.

Ditch that inline and see what happens, thats what my guess would be. You dont need a fmu or inline and check valves if your running no more than 10psi with the 450's and hack.

You don't need the check valves either according to https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=137901
Also, on the dropshops web site, it says "Stock Honda MAP sensor utilized ( no check valves or missing link sort of devices needed for boost up to 10psi w/o CEL)"
Were you folling the instructions off of that site?

You MUST ditch the check valve or the AFC hack is worthless and you'll lean out really bad under boost. The FMU is also not needed, and this in combination with the inline pump is almost DEFINITELY running your fuel pressure too high at idle and causing you to be too rich down low. Ditch the pump, FMU, and check valve and call us in the morning.

if you are using the 440 or 450cc injectors... you can just use your stock fuel pump. The fuel pressure is going to be the same, the injectosr just flow a lot more.

Re: ! (xbird)
alright i pulled off the FMU, the check valves, and the inline pump....and for some reason my car's fual pressure was at 50psi stock!! i dont know why, but anyways i put on my B7M FPR and turned down the fpr to 42 psi at idle with vacuum on it, and i set my vafc sttings to -40 at 1000, -38 2000, -35 the rest, and WOW!!! it pulls so much harder!!! and im only at 6 psi! there is actually some top end pull now! but the problem is i am still throwing cel's for my O2!! i got it rewelded closer to my turbo about 5-6 inches down from the turbo and it still throws cel' and my air/fuel doesnt read....so im thinking the sensors bad already! i only bought it like 4000 miles ago!!! there goes 40 bucks! well anyways im gonna get a new o2 and then ill se if it helps some more!!!
thanks a lot for all your help!!! i am actually pretty happy wiht my car now! and the vafc is great once you figure out to tune it!

Re: ! (boostinb18)
oh that's good to hear
but u still need the fpr to adjust it... maybe it's probably ur O2 is not working good and the ECU is messing the fuel pressure...
u probably wont need the FPR after you fixed ur O2
good luck
are u going to go higher boost?
