Chipped P06 shorting out...
I attached a few shitty cell phone pics...short recap is that the ECU fritzed out when I tried to start the car the other night...Any ideas what might have caused this?
Symptoms included the tach needle jumping, the car filling with smoke, and the cooling fans staying on all the time. The main relay stopped clicking when the car was turned to 'on' and the fuel pump isn't coming on.
In the pic of the
"top" of the circuit board, the burn is right under the silver canlike object...capacitor maybe?

That one looks pretty bad and probably won't be easy to fix. I would suggest just picking up another chipped ecu. And make sure it comes with a new capacitor!

I was assuming so...I suppose I'll be ordering a second one from you then. Can you tell me two things? Would this take the main relay and/or anything else external to the ECU with it? Also...would this capacitor being gone cause the main relay not to click?
:edit:
Would the chip with the basemap still be good?
