neptune to rom
I’d like to know if the Neptune application only works directly with the Neptune Hardware? Can you tune with the hardware/emulator and then dump to a rom? The reason I bring this up is I saw the unit as a Anti-Theft function which I think is a great idea, but if this function is only available within the hardware it’s self it is kind of flawed then. At 300+ dollars for the hardware I don’t know why I would want it sitting in the car, as thieves tend to steal ecus from time to time. Now if you can integrate this function into a rom, that would be great. I’d rather have a ecu stolen with a external rom, than to have a ecu, with the Neptune hardware stolen. You dig?

It's available in the ROM if you're tuned by an authorized dealer. If you want to tune it yourself you need the full tuning hardware.

Ok so if i was a dealer, and tuned a customers car. The actually Anti-Theft functions would transfer over to the rom. Right? If so great to know. Now for the software, is the software bound to the unit? lets say single car use, do you get free upgrades? Or is it like Chrome, each time a upgrade comes out you need to renew your license?
I'm think this is the unit i will move to...

All features of the ROM can be used on the NepTune RTP or chip license version, except for On Board Logging which requires the RTP hardware to operate.
The NepTune RTP license never expires and isn't linked to your specific laptop. Updates are free.

Re: neptune to rom
Ok thanks for the clearing this up for me.
NepTune RTP = software
Moates Demon = hardware device / emulator
now, I've seen NepTune the software downloadable at **** which i do not want to put out on blast, but i will be happy to message it to you if you would like...
So i wasn't sure if this software was the full version of the application or free for anyone to download as you say it's suppose to be licensed. Just looking out for the product, and also trying to figure out the whole thing.

Sure, message me please. The NepTune RTP software is free to download. It can't be used with the Demon without the license entered properly.
