Default Project s2k24

**4-4-11** We just finished up the first stage of project s2K24 and I thought I would share the progress up to this point. Our goal was to do this swap utilizing as many of the stock f20 and k24 parts as possible so others could do this without spending alot on custom manifolds, rails, fittings ......... For this project we started with a 2006 Acura TSX k24a we picked up for $1500 and proceeded to make an adaptor plate for K engine to F trans as well as an intake manifold adaptor so the stock s2000 intake mani could also be utilized. This aloud us to use all the stock fuel lines, rail, sensors and so on cutting down on cost. We also found a mix of stock f20/k24 pulleys and tensioner so no additional custom hardware is needed there ether. So far it is only fuel tuned with no dyno time or cam angle tuning but even with that I can say this is the engine Honda should have put in this car to begin with. The stock f20 was gutless below vtec in this heavy of a car. But now with a 2.4L and vtec coming on at 3500rpm this car is a much more pleasant daily driver. You have good useable power from about 2800rpm and up. With the stock K cams it is only making power to 7800 rpm or so but with some Skunk2 cams (closer it size to the stock f20 cams) it will soon be back to making power well over 8000rpm. Even though it doesn't make power to 9000rpm anymore the powerband it's self is MUCH wider than it was with the f20 equaling a much more usable powerband. All through the stock s2000 intake, header, cat, and exhaust. We will soon have dyno numbers and I will post them up when we do.

**update 5-16-11**
we finally got time to put the car on the dyno for some cam angle and ignition timing tuning. This sheet is a comparison of a stock AP2 tuned on Hondata with intake and exhaust vs the sk24 with intake and exhaust. The AP2 made 220hp and the s2K24 made 219hp but the real story is told under the peak. The s2K24 is making about 40tq and 35hp more around 5500rpm than the 2.2L AP2 engine. AP2 was tuned on 93oct vs 89oct on the S2K24. The s2K24s engine setup is: stock 06 TSX K24a2 bottom end, stock K20a2 head with TSX ex cam and 08 Si intake cam with 50* vct gear, stock AP1 intake manifold and TB, and a stock AP1 header. Next we will being adding Sunk2 cams and maybe a TB. We will post those results when we get time, then the turbo kit goes on so stay tuned!!!

**update 1-1-12 **

round 2 of project S2k24. This time we have added Skunk2 stage 2 cams and a Skunk2 74mm TB thanks to my buddy Tony Shagday at Skunk2 Racing. Skunk2 has come through for us time and time again over the years with great support and products. I really cant say enough about this company and the team at Skunk2!! I also must give a shout out to Justin at FullBlown as well for providing a FB340 fuel pump and radiator as they have for some of our other s2k builds. We are still using a stock K24a2 bottom end and unported head, OEM s2000 header, and modified OEM s2K intake manifold,.... for now. 170tq off the throttle at 2500 rpm makes these cars way more fun to drive. No more down shift to pass people and it still makes power to about 8400 making for a much wider power band than the old f20c ever thought of.

** update 1-31-12 **

we just started on round 3 of this project, boost time!! We are in the process of fabbing up a turbo kit right now and should be finished soon. We are hoping to hit 500hp with only 12-13psi. Kit consists of a 6265, id2000s, tial 44mm gate, tial BOV, 2.5"-3" IC Piping, and custom manifold. Updates coming soon so stay tuned!!

hrmmm, if you are just going to turbo it anyways that sure does seem like a lot of work for nothing....

...stock F20/F22 engines seem to take the boost just fine...

Innes, the owner dropped a valve on the f20c and we were able to get the k24a2, put together mounts, make both adapters, and a custom flywheel for what another f20c would have cost. With stock everything we made about the same hp as the f22s we play with with way more TQ and a much wider power band. With just cams and a bigger TB we saw gains the f series won't with the same mods. Plus there are far more parts avalible for the Ks. An f22 will make 500hp with this turbo at 15-16psi, we should be able to make 500hp on 12-13 psi with this k. If you drove it you would understand ; )

To everyone else, thanks. This has been a very fun project

Marc, it's been fun seeing you grow from the wide eyed kid we met in 06 or 07, to a points champ, then on to a well respected member of the community. Thanks for allowing me to tag along even though I wasn't running the class anymore

Love this build Tony, I did not know it was going to be a drag car, but if it isnt....you might want to move this thread into the builds, s2000, or Forced Induction threads. Cant wait to see more.

Not yet. It eats OEM transmissions like candy but if I can ever make up my mind between a supra 6 speed or a Gforce 2000 it will. It's on it's third trans now and I am starting to think Honda never intended on these trans seeing 500+ TQ lol

Lovin it! Great work. Are you planning on selling parts to make the swap DIYable?

Can you elaborate on this?

So it's just mounts, trans adapter, flywheel and intake manifold adapter and everything else is bolt on?

Yes and I made a custom wire harness and we modified the stock s2k header to fit. Oh and the tensioner is a mix of K and s2K parts with a spacer. We made the intake manifold adaptor so we could use the stock s2k mani and have all the fuel and water line bolt right back up. I was the first one to get Kpro working along with the stock gauges in a 06-10 civic Si before FlashPro existed. We also deleted the DBW on the Si. So after making a harness for tandem ecus in the Si wiring up a K24 with Kpro was no big deal

You could probably even run S2000 cam/crank sensors and wheels on the k24 and run plugin boxes that AEM or Haltech already make utilizing the stock s2000 harness with the other stock parts you utilized

Send me an email if you would on the custom parts sort of things I could get from you as I would be interested in doing something fun like this on my s2!
