none vtec head v vtec head
(not a road car)
i've seen people lock there vtec but would it not be better to just use a none vtec head with some big cams. i guess you will have less rotating mass in the topend ?

VTEC heads flow way better and the valve train is more high RPM stable etc... I used to have a ported LS head with a nice valve train package and thought I was doing all the good...Until I got a VTEC head. Night and day difference.

If you try to use a non vtec head to safe money, it will be WAY more money to modify it and it will still flow the same or less? than a stock port vtec.
I've been looking for flow charts and can't find anything.
Found it. After porting and vj it flowed more than a stock pr3 with no manifold. And that's a P8r head with with the 33mm intake valves.

OP,
The comments were assuming you were discussing B series cylinder heads.
Marc P runs K series stuff and K series OE non vtec heads are a totally different ball game.

Re: none vtec head v vtec head
k series you can use the k24a1 non vtec head and it will port exactly the same as a k20a2 head.
people thought you were talking about b series heads.
i have a k24a1 head on my 2.7 k.
the only advantage to this is the head is cheaper. afterkmarket rockers or oem vtec killer rockers can be used on either head.
