Mahle piston
hey guys
My fuel regulator give ways and damage my cp's scrath on the piston wall and rings no-1 get very tight. I am lucky my ERL block is still intact and sleeve is not damage, top notch ERL. But still to be safe i am going oversize and bore out my ERL.
My engine builder recommended me to go with Mahle 85mm. What do you guys think of Mahle? And if i am not mistaken Mahle piston is forged from 4032 low expansion high silicon aluminium alloy and that really get me worried!
spec:
Block ERL 18c
Manley TT rod
piston = ?
GSR crank
GSR head with supertech valvetrain
Skunk pro1
GT35R
ID1000cc hondata s300
What do you guys think, should i go with Mahle or just buy back CP or Wiseco, Arias, JE? going with 9.1 compression....help me

Re: Mahle piston
I know its not in sport compact, but thats all weve used for the last 3 years in our sprint car (small block chevy on methanol) . no issues what so ever, and will continue to do so.

Mozz what power are you making with those? I am using Mahles too for the past two months and they have been great - tuning for high boost soon. Remember that Mahle is used as oem in Porsche engines...

The Mahle piston that u run is the 4032 and does Mahle produce piston in 2610 forged? Is it on a b series turbo that u run the Mahle?

Re: Mahle piston
I don't show a 2618 Mahle Piston for the B series. 4032 is a great material for it's intended purpose, however that intended purpose is quieter operation lower power cars with less oil consumption. 4032 is not the material I would choose for a high power turbocharged car. This is the same material used in SRP Pistons, which again - are good pistons, but they are not the correct choice for what you are doing in my opinion. Your engine builder may prefer the Mahle 4032 pistons because he can run tighter clearances, but exactly for the reason that the 2618 pistons are a high expansion material, they are a better choice for something that will see a lot of abuse.
Personally on a sleeved engine with a 35R trying to make over 600whp I would run a 2618 piston. JE, CP, Wiseco, or Manley. I also recommend upgrading the wrist pins at this power level.
I also would not be scared to use another CP Piston as your first post indicates that it was not the piston's fault. And on that same note, a 4032 piston would have broken even quicker, and possibly more violently in that situation.
