what does cryo do? Is it only needed for high horsepower cars? If i replace the parts needed and then get cryo done does it make it stronger to prevent it from happening? Sorry for the questions, but I just wanna understand what the cryotreatment is for.

kinda off topic but you get the point. they cryo treat the sti ra gears from ralli spec and the subaru guys have had good luck with it with 350plus whp. only one guy known to break so far and i think he was running like 450whp.. so it must help

if you drive your car ALOT and beat on it ALOT. you can wear out the synchros and start to grind gears. fairly recently it was common to see relativly stock 99-00 Sis coming in with transmission problems. just about every single one had a bad 3rd gear synchro due to severe abuse (evidenced by the bald front tires although there are the exceptions where maybe its just a bad driver). repeated high rpm power/speed shifts will wear out synchros. the solution is products like gear speed or libertys upgrades.

Cryo treating is for wear resistance on parts. It's not really making it stronger, it's like an antiwear process.

so how much would it be for disassemble, inspect and cryotreating?
Do you work out of R crew? If so can you also get me a price for Type R LSD and installation in a GSR tranny.
Thanks

call dan tomorrow on the disassembly, inspection, lsd, and install.

if you can do the cryotreat within this week i can get it done for $200 bucks. otherwise it will be $250.

thats for the final drive, 1-5 gears, mainshaft, countershaft, shift forks.
