Default In Need of help! engine grimlins 87crxsi

so was driving up a hill in my 87crxsi... and the pgm fi light comes on, car starts to crap out and the throttle wont respond, pulled over, everything looked fine. could make it get up to speed if i slowly feathered the throttle down. so thought it was the fuel filter was clogged. got a new one. still idled rough, so pulled the plugs, oil fouled. cleaned up nice and shinny. cleaned up the ports on the distributor cap.(inside rotor too)
and now it idles better... but the whole damn car shakes... like dash is going pretty good. and if you try to gas it fast. not even fast just fairly fast it bogs and back fires... been trying lots of things. ran injector cleaner through it. bleh still **** up...

any suggestions?? im out of ideas

Verify that your engine is mechanically capable of running with a compression test. Minimum 156 psi

It helps to add your location to your profile, since local peeps might be willing to lend a hand or tools. There are lots of things it could be, but the first things I would check are the timing, compression, and fuel pressure. Are you sure the timing belt didn't jump a tooth? Make sure all of your vacuum hoses are still good and not cracked.
