Stealth antenna install?
I'm trying to keep my Clifford 50.5x as stealth as possible, I don't want everyone to know that I have an alarm installed. (No LED) I regret mounting the antenna in the open (behind rear view mirror), and I'm trying to come up with a good place to relocate it. Will mounting it in the headliner drastically affect the range?

what model car do you have? A popular place to mount the antenna is on the drivers side 1/4 panel glass.
you would only have room to do this if you mounted the 50.5x brain in the 1/4 panel though, im not sure if the cord will extend all the way under the dash.... then again, if your brain is under your dash then it wouldn't really be considered a "stealth install" anyways..... well i cant say that there are other factors.

well atleast have the LED..
it keeps petty thieves away...they see a blinking light.. the move to the guy without one...
but hiding the ant is a good idea.. u can sometimes tell what ppl have based on their ant alone.. if your that ****...

I'm ****. No Led, pointless. I don't think a thief would just move on if they see whats in my car. If someone wants to screw with my car they'll get a surprise. An LED is just another wire to trace, thats why I need to hide this antenna.
I have an RSX and my rear is completely gutted, I'll probably just mount it up in the headliner. That tape is damn sticky.

I've been putting them on the rear glass top center. Not invisible but pretty damn stealth. Most cars have black dot diffusion there but it doesn't seem to hurt the range at all.

Good location, but I won't have enough wire to go that far.
I'm just gonna give it a try and see how it does.

Nooooooo, its a stealth install. It took me 3 days and I'm still refining it whenever I have time.

I usually put antennas just above rear view mirror on top of the headliner. I like stealth.
Doesn't seem to affect range.

I'll finally have some time today, we'll see how it goes. I need to get a proximity sensor..
Edit: Just bought the crutchfield, something to look forward to.

Radar sensor? Good idea, but they are usually more trouble than they are worth...

Yes, it will destroy your range.

I know tuning it will be a pain in the ***, it was either this or a glass detector.
We'll see how it goes, it'll already be here tomorrow. Damn quick shipping! I need something other than this joke of a thing shock sensor.
Relocated the antenna, GOOD LUCK finding it.
