Default Recommend me good speakers/amp

Ok, I'm not too happy with my stock 2000 Prelude audio system, so I decided to upgrade. What I'm looking for is front 6.5 coaxial 2-way speakers and rear 6x9 coaxials 2-way speakers. Why not components? No cash I also need an amp....something around 75watt rms per channel...4 channels in total. I already have a hu...

I've being doing my research and looked at most car audio companies out there. I browsed through these companies: JBL, Pioneer, Alpine, Boston Acoustics, MB Quart, Rockford Fosgate, Kicker, Focal, Infinity, OZ Audio, Audiobahn, Dynaudio, Diamond Audio, Kenwood, Eclipse, Polk, Phoenix Gold, JL Audio, Nakamichi. So I pretty much know what's available...and what are the specs and prices.

Right now I just want you guys to recommend me what's good for the amount of $$$ I'm willing to spend. I don't want pure crap just because it's cheap. I want something good (not the best) for a reasonable amount of cash. I'm looking for whatever bass I can get with just speakers and would like to have a crisp/clear quality sound.

Well, here is what on the list:

AMPS

- Phoenix Gold T600.4 (75x4, 20hz-20khz...discontinued, but it probably doesn't matter)
- Eclipse PA5422 (85x4, 20hz-20khz)
- Audiobahn A4601T (75x4, 10hz-40khz)
- JBL GTO75.4 (104x4, 10hz-83khz, SNR 80dB <<<--must be not a good choice with such ratio?)
=====================================

6.5

- Polk DB650 (60w, 40hz-22khz, 92db)
- Infinity Kappa (75w, 45hz-21khz, 90db)
- Kicker K65 (65w, 40hz-20khz, 90db)
- MB Quart DKE 216 (50w, 40hz-32khz)
- Pioneer TS-D160R (60w, 30hz-32khz, 90db)
- JBL GTO626 (60w, 55hz-21khz, 90db)
=====================================

6x9

- Infinity Kappa (110w, 35hz-22khz, 90db)
- Kicker DX69 (70w, 30hz-20khz, 92db)
- MB Quart DTE 169 (60w, 35hz-32khz)
- Pioneer TS-D690R (80w, 25hz-32khz, 92db)
- JBL GTO926 (100w, 50hz-21khz, 91db)
=====================================

Ok, hope that will give you an idea of what I'm looking for. Pick from what I listed is the best...or if you have something else in mind...then fill free to bring it up as well

Common people, you're slow I'm almost made up on the polks fronts and rears now. I read great reviews about them. Still gotta find myself an amp. Might go to Circuit City tomorrow in Buffalo, if I'll be able to decide.

if you're broke why not keep it simple and get a component set for the front and not worry about the rears. get a 2 channel amp for the fronts and run teh stock rears off the HU. at least this way you'll have better components in your car and wont be changing them later on when you get a little more money.

also when looking at the specs you posted for the speakers and amps, you can pretty much ignore the frequency response numbers. audiobahn is claiming something rediculous like 10hz to 40khz. the numbers look impressive but most humans cant hear above 18khz on average. i dont believe cd's have any music information on them below 20hz either but im not sure.

I don't really want or need components without rears and amp. Coaxials should be fine too. Anyways, I went yesterday to Circuit City and bought the Polk speakers. 6.5 fronts and 6x9 in the rear. The price was really good, only $150 for both of them! I hooked them up and the sound quality improved by a lot!!! A really big step in sq!!!!! And my speakers weren't even mounted and put in the doors/rear panel...'cause it was past midnight and I didn't have proper connectors, plus I have to rewire the thing to bypass the factory amp. For the distortion part, it didn't go away...but it got a bit better. So now, hopefully I can get an amp by this week from ebay...can't wait!! I'm still trying to get things straight with paypal as those suckers just don't get what I'm telling them. I emailed them 6 times already and told them their stupid system doesn't work, and they answer me as if they didn't even read what I wrote them. They respond fast, but they should get in there some real brains, instead of those red-*** typing monkeys, if they ever wanna improve their customer service

For the amp, I think I will get the Phoenix Gold Octane R 8.0:4. It looks like a real good amp for a real good price...don't know why I overlooked it the first time.
