which one is better for kids, the headrest dvd or the portable dvd?? im taking a 10 year old kid to the road trip, and i dont want him to sceam or cry in the car. So im going to buy one of them to keep him occupied. what's ur advice?

The headrest DVD usually can playDVDs and CDs, and allows the units to play more video games, such as you can hook up an Xbox or play station, and then you can play more games.Some ppl prefer the portable DVD, because it is easy to get in and out their cars. If you are an outdoor fanatic, it is very convenient.

It depends on you actually. And yes I get this question several times a week at work.

Portable:

- Cheaper
- easily installed and removed.
- great short term solution.
- wiring can be hassle

Headrests

- typically more expensive
- 'OEM styled (looks like it belongs there)
- can display video from different sources.
- can add value to vehicle.

The way I see it if its for use on the 'occasional road trip' the portable could be fine. Personally I have a set of headrest monitors in my van and honestly they get used only on road trips or to entertain when shopping trips go long and were waiting.

I say a good portable entertainment system.. either a DVD player or a handheld console (PSP, DS, etc.) Whatever you choose just go portable because the car isnt going to be the only place your kid is going to be bored

The portable dvd players, i have some that we strap the front seats on the head rest and my baby bro just sits there and watches his dvd and cartoons on it, the only time he says something is when he needs to pee or wants something to drink. oh and it has headphone jacks in it so it sounds out the music from the car. and when your done with them you can pack them away and dont have to worry about anybody looking in your car and stealing them.
