i just got a jvc cd player and i have seen a lot of people install them just never tried to myself. its a good time to learn. i know how to do everything besides the wiring. basically just match up all the colors, correct? tape up the leftovers? im using a adapter kit its going in my 90 civic. i am just not sure which wire is which

Yes, you just match the colors on the two harnesses and plug them in. However, if the radio harness in your car has been cut off, you'll need to connect the wires function to function, NOT color to color... You can get the wiring colors from http://www.installdr.com.

The worst that could happen is that you blow a fuse... Follow my directions above and you'll be fine.

Well if worst comes to worst, hopefully he knows to just hook up all power wires, and then try one set of speaker wires at a time, following the HU's book for the wire diag.

if the factory wires aren't cut, then using a harness is pretty simple...
yellow - constant 12v
red - ignition
black - ground
grey/grey black - RF
white/white black - LF
purple/purple black - RR
green/green black - LR
blue - remote (used for amps)
blue white - power antenna
orange - illumation
if the factory harness is cut, then i can post the color codes for the factory wires (since they are not the same as what i just listed)

installing a deck is pretty simple actually. once you know what the wire colors in the car are, its just a matter of connecting the appropriate wire. i find the biggest problem most people have is making proper connections. most of the time they just twist the wires and use electrical tape.
