HOW-TO: Mount aftermarket cd player in Eg optional audio console! PICS coming!
I finally figured out how to mount a normal size stereo deck in the audio console and use the OEM pocket that comes with the console.
Parts needed:
Radio strap (1)
JB Weld
4 iso-mount screws (supplied with cd players)
I will post pics once the install is complete. I am going to cut the top half of the rear bracket since the holes will not line up with the aftermarket deck. The main reason I am cutting the top half is because of the depth problem. The deck can mount fine with the bracket not cut, but the deck will stick out just a little in front of the lower pocket. Most of you probably would not even mind, but I'm **** about things lining up and just being done the best way.
I broke the radio strap down into 4 small pieces (I will post the exact measurements again once this is all done) and going to mount 2 on each side of the deck. I will use the little ISO-mount screws that are supplied with the deck to attach the straps to the side of the deck and the JB Weld will be used to attach the straps to the metal frame of the audio console. You could go all out and screw the metal straps into the console frame instead of using the Weld, but no one will ever see the straps anyhow. Also, when you go to remove the deck you'll just have to loosen the 4 screws that hold the deck in place.
Once I get the pics and the write-up complete, hopefully a MOD will be able to rename the thread w/o the Question mark so people know "it's telling how to" and "not asking how to".
Any Q's hit me up with an IM

I would assume that all you need is a backstrap (which you should have anyways).
I can't find a pic though.

you can either iso mount it using a back strap or you can go to circuit city and get a dash kit.. any honda kit will work.. they make a metra 997899? i think that iso mount brackets and a pocket underneath of it also.. looks good if done right.. you can also use the startard ami honk828 kit and break the correct tabs for it to snap tight into the double din housing..

Thanks for the advice. My Kenwood deck didn't even come with the back strap I'm going to pick one up though. I think Wal-Mart sell them now.

Re: How to mount aftermarket cd player in Eg optional audio console? (Hybrid95CivicEX)
I just picked up a kit from Best Buy. It's a double DIN and it looks like I won't be able to use my original pocket that cme with the audio console. I don't think I am going to keep this kit since the pocket is damn small
Where can I get a back strap? Anyone got any details on how to install the deck and use the pocket that came with the console?
Thanks!

Is it difficult to relocate your Aftermarket Headunit to the Optional Audio Console?
