Default Amp Overcurrent Problem when Volume is up

Hey

I have a sony xplode amp. Its an piece of junk but I had it kicking around. Hooked the subwoofer and the amp. Everything works great until I turn it up then the amp trips out and stops powering the sub. If I turn off the deck and back on it works fine...until I turn it up again. The light that comes on when it stops working says its an 'overcurrent' problem

I've tried it with two separate subwoofers and had the same problem. Its a 760 watt amp and I bought a wiring kit rated up to 1000 watts. So would this mean the amp is junk or ?

Check the ground on the amp... It should be as short as possible and securely mounted to metal in the car with the paint cleaned off.

Ditto the above^^^.

What is the model of the amp?

What is the make and model of the subs you have connected the amp to?

The over current light will come on if a sub is blow, [VC damaged] or if the load, [impedance] is too low, either way, damaged VC or low impedance would result in your symptoms, works until you turn it up. 94

this is the same thing i was thinking, until i read he tried it with 2 different subs, then i was thinking more along the second part about impedance.

Well, if its an impedence problem, OP, we need you to post the model of the amp (as fcm stated), along with the model of the sub. If the subs you've tried are dual voice coil, how did you wire them?
