Road-Tripping in the 2017 Honda Ridgeline Black Edition

We recently embarked on an ambitious weekend road trip to Niagara Falls USA onboard the 2017 Honda Ridgeline Black Edition. In the end, our trip would cover six states, two countries, and a whole lot of potty breaks for the kiddos.

When you think of Honda’s pickup truck, what is it that first comes to mind? Is it its social awkwardness, is it the fact that it’s more SUV than truck? Or is it the fact that someone like Honda offers a mid-size pickup truck, while someone like Ford Motor Company doesn’t? Well, whatever it is that you think of the Ridgeline, erase it. I approached my first ever Ridgeline with an open mind, and boy was I blown away!

Under the hood is a familiar 3.5 liter V6 engine with 280 horsepower that’s shared with the Honda Pilot (like the majority of the truck), which allows this Batmobile-looking Black Edition to tow up to 5,000 lbs. This particular AWD model would set you back around $43,700 bucks, which is a lot of change, but then again, it’s a lot of truck.

I didn’t get to spend as many days with this stealthy Black Edition as I would’ve liked to, but I sure did spend a lot of hours on the driver’s seat as we headed to Niagara Falls, New York. I can assure you we exploited its built-in trunk, under-seat cargo area, and multiple cup holders to their maximum potential. Cruising around with two needy kids is no joke, and the 2017 Honda Ridgeline Black Edition passed the kid-friendliness road trip test with flying colors.
