Re: SoHonda Garage's Circuit DC5 Build
This is a great build so far. I know it took 3 years to build this, but is this personally funded? You said it was a team car, is this a group SHG project?

Re: SoHonda Garage's Circuit DC5 Build
I didn't think it could get any better and you've seem to prove me wrong like always! The bay looks incredible, soo many gold bodes I need shades to look at it. The details in the interior are just phenomenal though. The work your doing is outstanding, I feel like just yesterday we were wrenching on the Eg and now this! Can't wait to see it on track even though part of me wants to see it in a museum.
Its mostly funded by my girlfriend and her father who will be racing the car competitively, but Ive put in some money as well, plus Im building it free of charge as my stake of ownership. Other members including SHG_Mike, tougethisda8, ep3moschini, and SHG_token have donated both time and knowledge to help get the project to where it is

Just read whole thread. As a former ITA guy, and now an STL guy, I sure hope to race with and see it in person someday. Wow.
And.....I have a burning desire to have bolts plated

That being said our 2015 season is confirmed! The car is up and running!
The car has been started and is running beautifully! It's an amazing feeling to finally see this thing run and after so much time has passed since the dawn of this project.. had to deal with a couple hiccups though. The weld for the bung on the fuel rail had a pinhole leak that I had to re do. It looks like burning plating on the inside of the rail had contaminated the weld. Also, the car was idling erratically and when the engine was off, but power on, I could hear the IACV motor humming. After a quick electrical inspection I decided to swap the valve and motor for a spare I had. The one that came off had some corrosion and was hard to spin. Both problems are fixed and everything is working as it should! I'll try and get some photos up before Theresa and I leave for our trip to TAS 2015 :D

If those were the only things you had to address after first start, that's hardly worth mentioning! Great to hear it's going, can't wait to see it rollin' around.

Re: SoHonda Garage's Circuit DC5 Build
Hey dudes!
Sorry for the lack of updates here... the thread is wayyyy behind on the build right now. My girlfriend and I took a week and a half vacation and actually made a full loop around the world stopping in Milan, Prague, and Tokyo! It was the trip of a lifetime and Ill have tons of stuff to share from Japan, but until then Ill try and get some new photos in here. Also, we had a pipe burst in our basement and had to clear everything out, most of which is packed in the garage around the car so its impossibe to get in there for photos right now. Hopefully the new floor will be going in this week between the massive snow storms weve been getting!

Re: SoHonda Garage's Circuit DC5 Build
Finally got some time to take photos and document the progress we have made on the car recently!
So Here is the basement torn apart in the process of getting a new floor. The place had been turned upside down for almost a month which made it really hard to get anything done on the car
.
.
Was still able to get some stuff done like fashion a grill for the bumper out of some gutter guard. This stuff is great if its a bit hidden like in a lower grill opening. Cheap and super durable! Class rules require a grill in order to prevent damage to the radiator from debris and possible fluid leaks causing a slippery track.
.
.
Also got some more parts to replace missing or worn out items from the donor like this belly pan, and some new belt moldings
.
.
Then last week the floor was completed and I was able to move all the stuff back from the garage and closets into the basement.
SHG center of operations!
.
.
We've got all of the vinyl together now and the color palette is looking delicious
.
.
Once I had a fresh roll of teal I put a banner on the new windshield, hopefully it will be going in later this week
.
.
The car now has all its exterior panels fully installed along with functioning power mirrors, fender liners, etc!
.
.
Played with some vinyl eyelids... What do you guys think?
.
.
Wheel house with full fender liners on a race car!?!?
.
.
Team Tech harness is in and works great with the Racetech seat!
.
.
We picked up these decals at the Tokyo Auto Salon, couldnt wait to throw a big old main power kill decal in the cockpit
.
.
And Ill leave you with a shot of the bay, not much has changed here but man is it nice to look at!

The car looks great man, I like the progress. And as far as the eye lids, in my opinion I'd leave them off but that's just me.

Dude awesome! It's not common to find a fellow Honda racer in the NE region! What do you race? Being from Chicago I have to believe you visit WGI
