SoHonda Garage's Circuit DC5 Build
.
.
Welcome to the home of the SHG DC5 Touring car build! This is our first ground up construction of a purpose built race car, so enjoy watching the attention to detail approach that you have come to expect from SHG!
The car is being built by us at SHG Motorworks for a client per say, my girlfriend and her father. After racing a Spec Miata in SCCA for 2 seasons they (and myself) were finally fed up with the poor design, poor reliability, and overall disappointing experience with the Miata and the class in general. After weeks of convincing her father that we could make a FWD chassis competitive, he bit the bullet and purchased the 2002 RSX-S you will see in a bit.
The DC5 will compete in SCCA Improved Touring R class, and will also compete in the SCCA PRO IT series. The whole build will be done in house by the SHG Motorworks team. A special thanks to our partners at Flatout Motorsports for letting us complete the tear down and cage at their facility!

Here is where all of the magic will happen (save for the cage and paint which will be done at the shop). Its my home garage which recently just got a revamp with a new hand made workbench and flourescent lighting...

Rules restrict us to the stock 2.0l. Header and exhaust and intake are open, port matching is allowed, and we can use Z1 parts (like cams). Transmission final drive and diff are open, everything else must remain stock.

Been working on stripping the interior the last few days after work... Pretty much ready to start attacking the sound deadening with dry ice

Had fun stripping all the gooey stuff from the plastic sheets on the doors...

You understand now that you made this thread that you have to keep us uber-updated or we might get belligerent right?
I never knew the race team owner was your GF's dad. That is awesome. My father in law likes fishing, fishing, hunting, fishing, hunting and any other form of killing animals you can think of......

I'll keepthe thread updated as we get stuff done which should be pretty often. For now it will be the run of the mill teardown stuff but in a couple weeks the real fun will start
